For my commonplace paper I was thinking about different hypothetical situations that I could use for my paper. I was thinking about using a ‘what if’ scenario. Because my topic is body objectification I decided to consider some consequences of it. What if we lived in a world where people weren’t judged based off of their appearance: weight, skin color, clothing choice, height, etc. What if the media used models of all ages and body types for campaigns? Would the product sell as well as it would if a gorgeous model was selling it? In the future if their bodies continue to be objectified by the media and men, will women try to make a change? Young women often feel pressured by men and the media to look a certain way. What if the pressure was too much to handle and they harmed their bodies in some way as a result?
As I was writing my blog my roommate, who was on the phone with her boyfriend, started to laugh uncontrollably. I looked at her as if saying “what the hell is so funny?!” Then she proceeded to tell me today was national Star Wars day. I continued to stare at her blankly, extremely confused as to how that was funny. “May the Fourth be with you, “ she said and then she started cracking up all over again. Apparently she found the joke much more amusing than I did but it reminded me of this class considering our theme is Sci-Fi so I thought I would share with everyone!
That is just a horrible joke. But i think your what if scenarios will be very affective in your paper. If you wanted to do a hypothetical situation you could descrbie someone that recieves a cat call on the street or is just used for sex. Something along those lines.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree worst joke ever and thanks for the advice I was thinking about mentioning guys whistling at girls or something along those lines.
