39. Grammer Rules

A grammar rule that I always mess up is using commas. I know that it seems like the easiest thing but when I’m writing I kind of feel like commas could be placed almost anywhere. I also think it depends on who is writing the paper and where they want to place emphasis. I also never know when I’m listing out things whether or not to add a comma before the last object on the list. I think that as long as you are consistent throughout the paper you are safe to decided whether or not to place them at the end of lists. I remember in class on the day we discussed grammar that there were two different ‘camps.’ As long as you are constantly following the same set of rule you should be fine. I know this doesn’t have anything to do with grammar rules but I am absolutely terrible at spelling. I think that technology has allowed me to get lazy. I don’t even think when I’m typing or texting and my iphone or laptop automatically correct my spelling errors without me even knowing I spelled them wrong in the first place. Although this has caused me to text some embarrassing things that don’t make sense, it is usually very helpful. For example, once when my roommate was trying to text me and say, “hey chica,” her phone corrected it to say, ”hey Chicago.” I do think when we went over grammar in class it was a good review and also very helpful.

  1. I always mess up on commas too. Why do we have so much in common?
