3. Dollhouse (2)
I decided to watch the second episode of Dollhouse because although I found the first episode confusing, I was intrigued and wanted to continue watching the show. “The Target” was the name of the episode and it was far more intense than the first. Multiple times throughout the episode I found myself tensing up or gasping. At one point in the episode Echo was running from a man who was trying to chase her down and shoot her with an arrow. It reminded me of an action movie instead of a scientific show. For a minute I forgot Echo was even a doll because I was so caught up in what was happening. I enjoyed the scenes when Echo was getting chased in the woods but at many points there were flashbacks that seemed confusing. Trust was a major component in this episode. One of the flashbacks explained how Echo and her handler came to be so close to one another. There was a neurological process that Echo went through, but I think that the connection that she and her handler have is more emotional and real. He risks his life to save hers and she chooses to do the same for him. He seems like a father figure to her and genuinely cares about her wellbeing. It reminds we a lot of the relationship I have with my own father considering I’m a daddy’s girl. Also during this episode I began to notice Echo having more flashbacks to her old life before she became a doll.

2. Dollhouse
Today I watched the first episode in the first season of Dollhouse. I chose to watch this show because it seemed to be the least science fiction of all of the choices. When the show started, I found it somewhat confusing. Actually there were many instances throughout the show that were hard to understand at first. Many of the concepts seem unrealistic, but I think that is the whole purpose of the show. For example, Echo is racing a man on a motorcycle, crashes, then gets up and continues to race him. Also the fact that the FBI agent hasn’t been able to locate the Dollhouse, but any rich client can seems a bit unreal. The main doll is named Echo and she somehow retains information from previous excursions that she has been a part of. A liked the fact that the programmer chose to make Echo have asthma and near sightedness. It made her seem more realistic because not everybody is perfect. Also he made a valid point when he explained “achievement is balanced by fault, by a lack. You can’t have one without the other.” I think that this quote parallels to all personalities because not one person is completely perfect. Everyone has faults, even if you can’t exactly see them on the outside. In Dollhouse, Echo has asthma and you can’t tell until she gets nervous and pulls out her inhaler. Even though it may seem a little far-fetched this episode reminded me of Bob Marley’s quote, "the truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for."

1. My Friend Aly Is A Real Cool Chick
Hi! My name is Aly Jackson and I'm a freshman at Ohio State, which I'm assuming the rest of you are too. Right now my major is Pre Nursing, but I applied to the OSU Nursing Program in January and hopefully I'll get in! I am from Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Lakota East high school. I noticed in class that someone was from Mason, which is close nearby. My roommate is one of my friends from high school and we get along amazingly. I have two sisters and a younger brother. My family means the world to me. I’m a picky eater. I don’t like hamburgers and before I came to college I didn’t like pizza. I guess winter quarter and the convenience of ordering food from the PAD changed that. I have a new obsession with fried pickles and if you haven’t tried them you need to. They will change your life! For spring break I went to Florida with a couple friends. I already miss the warm weather and the beach. I’m outgoing in most situations, but can be shy and slightly awkward. I love to be comfortable and I almost always wear sweatpants or track shorts. I hate jeans-they are way too constricting. While I’m on the topic of things that I dislike I’ll mention writing. I don’t like to write and I am definitely that person who puts papers off until the last possible second because I dread writing them. Hopefully this class will help with that!
